10 Toughest Holes In U.S. Open History – Page 3

Bethpage Black – 15th hole, par 4, 459 yards

Bethpage State Park, Farmingdale, New York
Years: 2002, 2009

The 15th on the Black course is a beast. Not only does it have by far the toughest green complex on the course, it also sits 30 feet above the fairway. To have any chance of hitting this dogleg left in regulation, finding the ribbon of fairway is a must. In 2002, the hole averaged 4.6 strokes and yielded just 28 birdies, compared to 186 bogeys and 44 doubles. In 2009, the average score was 4.47. Tiger called it the toughest hole on an especially tough course. He played it in 4-over that year.
