10 Toughest Holes In U.S. Open History – Page 5

Baltusrol Golf Club – fourth hole, par 3, 194 yards

Lower Course, Springfield, New Jersey
Years: 1903, 1915, 1936, 1954, 1967, 1980, 1993 (Lower Course – 1954 and on)

The spectacular par-3 fourth hole at Baltrusol’s lower course may not be the longest par-3 in U.S. Open history, but it certainly is one of the most difficult. Players hit across a pond to a two-level green surround by four bunkers, three of which are in the back fo the green. In 1993, it played well over par where players made 65 birdies compared to 86 bogeys or worse.
