10 Toughest Holes In U.S. Open History – Page 9

Cherry Hills Country Club – 18th hole par 4, 487 yards

Cherry Hills Village, Colorado
Years: 1938, 1960, 1978

Although the U.S. Open hasn’t been held here since 1978, the 18th at Cherry Creek Country Club statistically ranks as the most difficult of all U.S. Open holes since 1970 checking in with a scoring average of 4.74 that year. In fact, only 11 birdies made the entire tournament. With a pond down the left side of the fairway and OB right, there is no bailout. The second shot is to an elevated green surrounded by deep bunkers.
