Pro Tops Fairway Wood into Creek, Still Makes Par

Dean Burmester might not be a household name in the United States, but the South African professional has won seven times on the Sunshine Tour, including this year’s Tshwane Open, which was co-sanctioned by the European Tour.

Parlaying that success into a trip to Dubai for the DP World Tour Championship, Burmester played great golf in the season finale posting rounds of 70-68-65 over the first three days of the event to put himself in contention.

Entering the 72nd hole at 4-under par for his round and needing a minor miracle to put some pressure on eventual champion Jon Rahm, Burmester hit a shot many amateurs are familiar with.

What sets the 126th-ranked player in the world apart from those amateur golfers we just compared him to is the fact that Burmester was able to get up and down on the par-5 and save his par. His final round 4-under par 68 was good enough to give Burmester a T4 finish, which was worth about $330,000.
