One of the most necessary, yet least practiced shots in golf is the short-sided bunker shot. Often, when we fire at pins, we miss the green to the short side and leave ourselves little-to-no room to get up-and-down for par. You need to be able to hit the high, soft bunker shot to save a few strokes per round.
Robin Symes shows you a drill ingrained in him as a national team player for Northern Ireland under Howard Bennett that teaches you to hit that same high, soft shot with a 7- or 9-iron. Once you master the shot with the lower lofted club, hitting it with a sand wedge should be a piece of cake.
