According to one major champion, professional golf is nothing without its rules. Jimmy Walker took to social media on Sunday to express his displeasure with the European Tour’s ruling during the Irish Open when Jon Rahm’s mark was called into question on his way to winning by six shots.

Based on the video evidence, it seems clear Rahm replaced his ball in a different spot than where he marked it. Yet, it was determined his intent was to place it back in the same position and therefore it was not deemed a penalty.

That’s when the 2016 PGA Champ dropped the rules mic:

However, the usually reserved Walker opted to defend himself on Monday when he saw his comments were taken, in his opinion, out of context:

Enforcement of the current rules is a growing concern among the golf world. In fact, just last week Brandel Chamblee called out the flaws of the enforcement of the anchor ban. As golf’s governing bodies attempt to modernize the rules of the game, it is important not to lose sight of its fundamental elements.
