On Sunday, during his first trip to Japan as President of the United States, Donald Trump played a round of golf with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and PGA Tour star Hideki Matsuyama at the expected venue of the 2020 Olympic golf event.

While the round made more news Stateside for the tweet POTUS put out showing off his golf swing, the bigger story to come out of the round was the Japanese Prime Minister’s tumble in a fairway bunker.

Golf.com’s Dylan Dethier uncovered the video thanks to a Japanese television station.

Playing from the sand has its challenges, as Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe found out on Sunday.

While the internet pored over the swing video that President Trump tweeted from their round together, a Japanese television station captured a far more compelling video.

In the video, Prime Minister Abe, who hosted Trump and Hideki Matsuyama at the Kasumigaseki Country Club on Sunday, hits a shot from the fairway bunker. Trump and Matsuyama walk toward the green, unaware of the drama unfolding behind them. Abe makes a charge up the side of the bunker — and even gets one foot onto solid land — before losing his balance, tumbling backwards in a half-somersault and landing back in the bunker floor.

The 63-year-old prime minister scrambled to his feet quickly, before either playing partner had noticed what happened.
