Callaway Golf, Ben & Jerry’s Create Big Bertha-Inspired Ice Cream

Throughout history there have been things that paired well together: baseball and Cracker Jacks, spaghetti and meatballs, Bonnie and Clyde, golf and … ice cream ?

All right, maybe that last one isn’t a classic pairing but hey, it might be soon? Callaway Golf and Ben & Jerry’s have partnered to create a Big Bertha-inspired ice cream called “Big Bertha’s Birdies Galore” core ice cream.

The flavor plays on the fact that both companies are pushing products involving “cores.” For Callaway, it is its gravity core in the new Big Bertha driver and for Ben & Jerry’s, it’s the “core treats” ice cream. No word on whether or not this will ever actually be a flavor but it is fun to think about.

Graham DeLaet’s Beard Gets Immortalized

Graham DeLaet has one of the best beards in all of professional sports. He looks like part of the Boston Red Sox World Series champion team from 2013, or like a long-lost Duck Dynasty brother. But the truth is that DeLaet is just Canadian and in the midst of the NHL playoffs. And now, his wonderful beard is being immortalized in the greatest way anything can be: with its own T-shirt.

Listen, Cobra/PUMA golf: I don’t know why you’re simply offering these as prizes and not selling them at retail shops. These things would sell out in a heartbeat. I know I’d own one.

Going, Going, Gone

How much would you pay for a piece of Ryder Cup history? For one buyer, the answer to that was $34, 375.

The 1997 Ryder Cup in Valderrama, Spain was the first Ryder Cup contested in continental Europe and saw the Europeans defeat the Americans, 14.5 to 13.5 to retain the cup. Valderrama Golf Club founder Jamie Ortiz-Patino had a personalized replica trophy made to commemorate the event.

That replica was up for grabs in a monthly, online auction and sold for a whopping $34, 375. The prize was available directly from Ortiz-Patino’s personal estate. Perhaps the most indelible memory from the 1997 matches were that Spanish golfing legend Seve Ballesteros got to captain the Europeans to victory in his native country.

Comedian and impersonator extraordinaire, Frank Caliendo took some time to poke fun at ESPN personality and Super Bowl-champion head coach Jon Gruden. The final copy was pretty good, but the outtakes were even better:
