Tiger is “Currently Receiving Professional Help”

Tiger Woods has confirmed he is currently “receiving professional help” to manage his pain meds in his first public comments since his May 29 arrest. The sad saga of Woods’ downfall continued last week as reports surfaced that he would be heading back to rehab in part to retain custody of his children.

In a message posted on Twitter Monday, Woods said: “I’m currently receiving professional help to manage my medications and the ways that I deal with back pain and a sleep disorder. I want to thank everyone for the amazing outpouring of support and understanding, especially the fans and players on tour.”

Woods’ infamous Memorial Day DUI arrest set off a string of negative events starting with an embarrassingly terrible mug shot, to dashcam footage where Woods was seen struggling to tie his shoelaces, and then a painful breathalyzer test. Finally, according to a redacted version of the police report, we learned he was on Xanax when he was found asleep at the wheel. It’s truly unfortunate. At least it appears he is trying to move forward.

Woods’ court arraignment date originally set for July 5 was rescheduled to August 9, according to court documents.
