Golf Club of Houston

With many great courses in the area, Houston is a great spot to consider for your next golf trip and the Golf Club of Houston Tournament Course should definitely be on your list of places to pay.

Houston Open

Although 2018 marked the final event, the Golf Club of Houston has played host to the PGA Tour’s Houston Open since 2003. The par-72, 7,422-yard Rees Jones/David Toms-designed course was actually specifically created to host the pros. With oak, pine, and cypress trees looming, the course weaves through the surrounding woodlands.

With the Houston Open’s slot right before The Masters on the schedule and in an effort to lure some of the best players in the world, the Tournament Course underwent a major overhaul to in essence create Augusta National conditions. The revamp was met widely with praise by PGA pros.

Playing host to some of the world’s best golfers, this course is definitely no pushover. It plays long, firm, fast, tight, and water protects a great deal of the holes. But, with several tee boxes, it can be made accessible to golfers of all skill levels. In addition, the absolutely pristine conditions will have you and your buddies feeling like PGA pros for the day.

Some other great courses to check out in the Houston area include Wildcat Golf Club BlackHorse Golf Club, Augusta Pines Golf Club, and the Tour 18 which features replicas of some of golf’s most famous holes.

Texas BBQ

The city of Houston offers everything you could need for hotels, dining, and off the course activities.

A few places to consider are the Hotel Granduca Houston, Hotel Alessandra, JW Marriott Houston Downtown, Hotel ZaZa, Westin Houston-Memorial City, and The Westin Houston Downtown.

Definitely plan on indulging in some incredible Texas BBQ while in town. Gatlin’s BBQ, Goode Company, Feges BBQ, and Fainmous BBQ are a few spots to check out.

With great live music venues, museums, shopping, professional sports, nightlife, and outdoor activities, you will find plenty to do off the course during your visit to the Magnolia City.
