Sycuan Golf Resort

Sycuan Golf Resort

While perhaps not the first spot that comes to mind when pondering a golf trip to the San Diego area, the Sycuan Golf Resort should definitely be near the top of your list.

UNWIND FROM THE STRESS OF THE GAME

Located in the Dehesa Valley Hills just outside idyllic San Diego in El Cajon, the 100-room Sycuan Resort has all the right pieces to put together the perfect golf getaway for you and your buddies.

In addition to two outdoor pools, a full-service spa, a casino, fitness center, free WiFi, and several great dining options, the resort boasts two challenging 18-hole championship golf courses as well as a fun 18-hole par-3 course.

All rooms – which include deluxe guest rooms and one- and two-bedroom suites – are air-conditioned and feature patios, 40-inch TV’s, premium bedding, coffee makers, and free bottled water.

The resort’s main on-site restaurant, Red-Tail Grill, serves a full breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu with dishes including salads, burger, fish tacos, NY Strip, artichoke risotto, paella, and Italian meatloaf. Echo’s Lounge offers a wide selection of on tap beers plus small plates and appetizers.

For even more dining options, hop on the resort’s shuttle for a quick ride over to the 24-hour Sycuan Casino and choose from Paipa’s Buffet, Wachena, GameDay Sports Bar & Grill, Sunset Deli, and the Double Down Grill.

And all of this is just a short drive from downtown San Diego and all the city has to offer including the San Diego Zoo and Sea World.

HIT EM STRAIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE

Willow Glen: Created in 1961 and redesigned in 1980, the par-72, 6,651-yard Willow Glen Course is a shotmaker’s dream – or nightmare. With tight fairways and penalizing bunkers, the course demands accuracy, particularly off the tee. Doglegs, elevation changes and water hazards add to the challenge. Although a stiff test, Willow Glen offers a great experience with some incredible views of the surrounding terrain.

Oak Glen: Like Willow Glen, the par-72, 6,594-yard Oak Glen Course, redesigned in 1991 by Dave Fleming, also places a huge premium on accuracy. The course’s tight fairways, slick rolling greens, and penalizing hazards require thought and precision while making your way around. Keep your ball in play and be rewarded with a solid score.

Pine Glen: Need some work on your short game? Enjoy a round at Pine Glen which reaches about 2,500 yards from the back tees and features holes ranging in length from 75-200 yards.

The resort offers several very reasonably priced stay and play packages, including the Mixed Double which offers accommodations and golf or spa for each guest.
