Treetops Resort

Treetops Resort

The quintessential Midwest golf trip destination, the Treetops Resort has been welcoming golfers for years now. And after battling through financial woes and emerging from bankruptcy in 2015, the resort is back in full swing.

Located about 3 and a half hours from Detroit, Treetops not only boasts five golf courses – or what the folks at Treetops call the ‘5 Wonders of Michigan’ – but nearly 250 well-equipped guest rooms, condos, cottages, and chalets, a health club, and a full-service spa.

STAY ON THE COURSES YOU PLAY

The resort’s rooms feature air-conditioning, refrigerators, private patios, complimentary WiFi, coffee makers, and satellite TV. Guests have the option of selecting rooms from the Lodge or Inn or opting for a condo or chalet. For a real treat. Book the Jones Cottage which has all the amenities you could need and is located virtually on the 4th tee at the Masterpiece Course.

You won’t have any trouble finding something great to fill your stomach during your visit to Treetops. Legends on the Hill offers a full menu that in addition to salads, sandwiches, burgers, and appetizers, features baby back ribs, seafood tortellini, blackened whitefish, and Michigan apple BBQ brisket. Legends also has an extensive selection of Michigan craft beers. Want to watch the big game? No problem. In addition to flat screens as far as the eye can see, the Sports Bar serves wraps, sandwiches, salads, pizza, and boasts a 100+ strong selection of beers.

If you’re looking for something to do while you wait for your next tee time, Treetops definitely has you covered. With activities ranging from kayaking to fat tire biking to fly fishing to disc golf to horseback riding to tennis to volleyball to indoor and outdoor pools to canoeing to rafting and tubing… you will run out of energy before you run out of things to do.

BET YOU CAN’T PLAY JUST ONE

Premier: The Premier, a par-72, 6,832-yard Tom Fazio design, plays as a pretty traditional layout across a rolling terrain with well-manicured greens and fairways, strategic bunkers, and trees lining the generous fairways.

Signature: The par-70, 6,653-yard Rick Smith-designed Signature features generous, forgiving fairways, undulating greens, and a rolling terrain that creates some tricky stances from time to time. The course is very accessible to players of all skill levels.

Masterpiece: This par-71, 7,028-yard Robert Trent Jones, Sr. gem situated along the Pigeon River features dramatic drops (the 6th hole has a 120-foot vertical drop!), ravines, valleys, plus sloping and tree-lined fairways. Jones called the Masterpiece his “crowning glory.”

Tradition: Rick Smith designed this par-70, 6,357-yard track with the tradition of the game in mind, hence the name. The links-style Tradition, which features wooden pins and pennant flags, has smaller, flatter greens with several risk-reward opportunities. Carts are offered, but walking is encouraged to truly enjoy this experience.

Threetops: Consistently ranked as one of the best par-3 courses in the land, Threetops is no stranger to the spotlight having hosted ESPN’s Par 3 Shootout for several years. The undulating greens and sometimes dramatic elevation changes from tee to green make this course a challenge and a joy to play.

While Treetops offers a bunch of great packages to fit any group’s needs, the Perfect Week package takes the cake featuring: five nights lodging; five rounds of golf with cart – one round on each 18 hole course, plus one additional round on your favorite; three breakfast vouchers; and three dinner vouchers.
