New Balance Runs Into Golf Footwear Market

Long known for its high-quality running shoes that come in a wide array of widths and sizes, New Balance is now bringing that comfort level to golf. The footwear company introduced its first two models last week, and will make three more designs available March 1.

Available now are two spikeless shoes: Minimus Sport and Minimus LX. The Minimus Sport (suggested retail: $119.95) is made up of water-resistant mesh, REVlite midsoles, an Ortholite moisture-wicking comfort insole, and a spikeless rubber outsole. Or for $10 more you can upgrade to the Minimus LX ($129.95), which features water-resistant leather instead of mesh.

Coming in March are the cleated shoes, all of which will feature the aforementioned midsoles and insoles, as well as the new, low-profile Champ ONE-Lok cleat system with Zarma Cleats for exceptional stability, flexibility and traction.

The NBG2001 ($134.95) has a traditional saddle design, featuring a premium waterproof leather upper and a saddle stability cage with a two-year waterproof warranty. The forefoot is spacious and comfortable, and the exoskeleton outsole is lightweight.

The NBG2002 ($149.95) is more of an athletic design, with a premium microfiber. It also comes with a two-year waterproof warranty, comfortable forefoot fit, and lightweight exoskeleton outsole.

And the NBG574 ($129.95) is New Balance’s classic, casual design. It’s basically the golf version of the company’s Classic 574 Running Shoe. The NBG574 also has a two-year waterproof warranty on its microfiber upper, but it features a rubber outsole that incorporates the cleat system.
