Differences Between A Waste Bunker And Normal Bunkers

Waste bunkers are natural sandy areas, usually very large and often found on links and tropical courses. They are not considered hazards according to the USGA Rule Book.

Unlike a fairway or greenside bunker, you are permitted to ground a club and even remove loose impediments from the area around the ball.
