Get Up-And-Down From A Tough Lie

Chipping from a downhill lie can be a really difficult shot. Knowing the proper technique on how to play this shot can be the difference between making an up-and-down and skulling it across the green.

In the video below, SwingU instructor Josh Kelley talks about a few adjustments necessary to be successful with the downhill chip shot.

  • Take a wider stance for stability.
  • Tilt your spine forward to help you swing down the slope.
  • Use the most lofted club possible. The ball will come out lower because you’re swinging down the slope.

This shot requires a lot of practice and commitment. Practicing these shots will give you the confidence you’ll need to pull them off on the course.
