Hit Better Shots Out Of The Bunker

Let’s face it: most golfers struggle to be consistent from greenside bunkers. That’s why we have a great drill for you that will help with just that.

The goal is to always hit the sand before the ball on these shots. To help us achieve that, we play the ball off of the inside of our lead foot. We can then impact the sand near the middle of our stance allowing the sand to lift the ball up softly onto the green.

Next time you are practicing bunker shots, try out this drill. Simply draw a line in the sand in the middle of your stance perpendicular to your alignment. Practice making swings trying to hit that line with the club; not in front of it and not behind it.

This will give you a visual aid allowing you to focus on where the club is entering the sand rather than focusing on the ball.
