How To Hit The Tiger Stinger

Josh Kelley

SwingU Instructor

The stinger is one of the most impressive shots in golf. Not only will it impress your playing partners, but it’s also very effective when playing in windy conditions. Swing-U instructor Josh Kelley takes us through the basics of hitting this shot.

  • Remember this a full swing shot, not a punch shot
  • Ball position should be in the center of the stance.
  • Use body rotation to get maximum forward shaft lean. We need to deloft the club as much as possible to get that low trajectory. Get the feeling of your hands being ahead of the ball at impact
  • Exit the club on the follow through low and left for the right-handed golfer with your hands and clubface working around your body. The lower the follow through, the lower the ball flight
