Many people consider the long bunker shot to be the most difficult shot in golf. A lot of the result of this shot depends on the attitude with which you go into the sand: “If I hit it too thin, I’m going to go over the green; if I hit it too fat, I’m going to leave it in the bunker.”

Instead, embrace the challenge and say, “here’s an opportunity to trust my swing and show my stuff.” Play the shot just like you were on the fairway. Make that crisp pitch swing adding a little more power to it to make sure you’re covering the entire bunker, and then you’ll be able trust that and embrace the challenge to hit that ball right onto the green.
