Golfers have an infuriating tendency — especially on uphill putts — to read the putt correctly, stroke it on line only to have the ball stop short of the hole.

Here’s a way to trick your brain into freeing up that stroke by concentrating on something beyond the hole. Put a tee a foot or so past the hole on the throughline. By concentrating on a target a few feet past the hole, the tendency to leave the putt right on line but short is eliminated resulting in more made putts.
