Something I don’t like about a lot of the bunker advice out there is that they say you need to open your clubface and swing out-to-in. This creates sidespin and adds another aspect to the equation that simply isn’t necessary. Instead, open the clubface and lower the handle in order to add loft, but also square the clubface to your target. This will help you to hit high, soft bunker shots that roll straight at the target.
