I have an exercise that I use with my LPGA Tour players as they start their year, and it’s one that you should use too when you’re coming off of some time away from the course or if you’re struggling around the greens. I call it “cross the line.”

You take your alignment stick and place it horizontally anywhere on the green. The goal is simple: make your shots fly past the alignment rod. By changing clubs and putting the alignment rod at different distances, you get a great feel for how far each club will roll out depending on the shot type.
