Think Outside The Box On Tough Shots

Amateur golfers too often cost themselves extra strokes after solid drives because they get greedy and take on pin placements that are better left alone. When you miss the green by getting too greedy, too often players compound mistakes by taking on unnecessary risk, resulting in a bogey or worse.

Instead, when faced with a short-sided shot in which a typical pitch is unsustainable and a flop shot is too risky, try taking a swing similar to that of a bunker shot, hitting behind the ball and allowing the grass between your club and the ball to soften the blow delivered by an aggressive swing.

Try this shot out in the short game area and then take it to the course.
