Today, we’re going to go over how to hit the dreaded fairway bunker shot, perhaps one of the toughest shots in golf. However, thanks to the rule changes enacted by the USGA involving impediments in bunkers, it doesn’t have to be so difficult.

Look no further than the bunker shot PGA Tour player Matt Kuchar had a couple of weeks ago. He smartly used the new rules to his advantage by removing several thousand loose impediments for no apparent reason other than to allow himself to get a better lie in the bunker and a more comfortable shot. This is what we call taking advantage of the rules at an elite level.

Let’s take what we’ve learned from Matt and apply it to this 200-yard bunker shot that I have here.

Now that we’ve got the lie we want, just set up and let it go.
