Bill Murray Surprises Couple To Reveal Child’s Gender

Everybody’s favorite greenskeeper, Carl Spackler — better known as Bill Murray — made a surprise appearance during a couple’s pre-planned gender reveal at this past weekend’s Murray Bros. Caddyshack Golf Tournament at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida.

Murray, of course, was on hand for the event that benefits various charitable efforts centered around providing medical services, educational programs, lifesaving equipment, and fundraising opportunities to better the lives in communities across the country, but  Jacqueline and Michael Davis were not expecting one of the most recognizable faces in golf cinema to strike the tee shot that would reveal the gender of their unborn child.

According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, the Michael Davis was participating in the outing and had brought along with him a special golf ball that would reveal the gender of their expectant child. Originally, Davis planned to hit the ball, but upon talking with John Resig, president and co-owner of TheChive, a photo-entertainment website, Resig agreed to make the strike that would show either pink (girl) or blue (boy) powder, thus revealing the gender.

When the couple arrived at the designated spot for the reveal, who was standing there but the Caddyshack star himself. Resig had filled Murray in on the goings-on and got him to do the honors.

“When we got to the green, we were surprised by Bill Murray standing there,” Jacqueline Davis said.

Murray admitted it was his first gender reveal and as a gift, gave the Davises the — ironically enough — pink PING driver he struck the ball with as a memento. The couple said they plan to pass the driver on to their future son when they can explain the story to him. Until then, the Davises will frame the driver.
