Dead Body Found In Golf Course Water Hazard

A Central Florida golfer got a shock on Wednesday morning when he came across a woman’s body floating in a water hazard near the 13th hole at The Country Club at Silver Springs Shores in Ocala, Florida.

The woman, 29-year-old Kayla Marie Miller, had been missing and considered endangered after posting messages to social media that concerned friends and family. Miller lived near the golf course and no foul play is suspected in her death, authorities said.

The golfer drove by the water hazard, noticed something and took a closer look that revealed a woman’s body. He then called 911.

Officers responded to scene, called the Marion County Sherrif’s Office forensic unit, a detective and the Medical Examiner’s Office shortly after receiving the golfer’s 911 call at 8:27 a.m. Shortly after 9:30 a.m., an official from the Medical Examiner’s Office arrived and retrieved the body.

The investigation remains ongoing.
