Rory McIlroy captured his first PGA Tour win since the 2016 Tour Championship at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Between his last two wins on American soil, McIlroy tied the knot with his now-wife.
Last April, McIlroy married American Erica Stoll at Ireland’s Ashford Castle in a lavish ceremony that included over 200 guests on the 350-acre estate. Amongst the celebrities in attendance were professional golfers Sergio Garcia, Paul McGinley, Martin Kaymer and Shane Lowry, as well as One Direction’s Niall Horan, music star Ed Sheeran, billionaire J.P. McManus and actors Jimmy Nesbitt and Jamie Dornan.
According to multiple Irish outlets, the cost of the wedding is around $1.2 million, which included a special performance by Stevie Wonder and a spectacular fireworks display.
If you are not familiar with Erica Stoll, allow us to introduce you. She is 29 years-old and was born in New York but lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The pair met at the 2012 Ryder Cup in Medinah. As the story goes, McIlroy overslept by accident and was close to missing his Sunday singles tee time. However, Stoll saved the day by waking him up and arranging a police escort to get him there on time.
If that isn’t true love, we don’t know what is.
Say hello to Mrs. Rory McIlroy.
