Michael Jordan’s Insane Golf Gambling Habits

How much money do you play for in your weekly game? Whatever it is, we promise you it’s not nearly as much as what Michael Jordan puts on the line. His Airness was a topic of conversation Thursday on The Dan Patrick Show when guest Charles Barkley was asked if he had ever played Jordan in golf for money.

“Oh, I used to play him all the time [for money],” Barkley said. “Why would you play golf if you don’t play it for money?”

Barkley then divulged further details on Jordan’s insane gambling habits on the course that range into the hundreds of thousands of dollars!

“We’d be playing for a couple hundred dollars a hole, nothing crazy. And he’d be playing some guy for $100,000. And he’s like, ‘Charles, pick that up.’ And I’m like, ‘This putt is for $200.’ He’d be like, ‘Pick that up Charles, get out of my way. You’re in my line.’ I’d say, ‘How much is that putt worth?’ And he’d say, ‘$300,000.’”

Sir Charles is no slouch when it comes to gambling either. In his day, he was one of the most notorious gamblers around to the point that it became a problem, as he also mentions in the interview. But the money he saw Jordan play for was even a little too rich for his blood.

“They were playing for like hundreds of thousands of dollars, it was crazy.”
