Mickelson to Renovate Trump Golf Course in Bali

Phil Mickelson has been tapped to re-design an 18-hole course in Bali that upon completion will be known as Trump International Golf Club. The property, which will be Trump’s 19th worldwide, is set to close for construction on July 31.

Joel Beall from GolfDigest.com had more details on Mickelson’s latest design project.

The five-time major winner and his team will be working with developer MNC Land and the Trump Organization to overhaul Nirwana Golf Course, located along the Indian Ocean.

“I’ve been fortunate to work on some great projects, but to contribute to what will be a six-star property is a rare and fabulous opportunity,” Mickelson said in a statement. “The site is breathtaking and we will create a golf experience that presents both exciting options for players on the course and memories for a lifetime.”

Though the 47-year-old is renowned for his playing prowess, Mickelson has helmed several high-profile designs renovations in the past few years, including Whispering Rock and this week’s PGA Tour venue at the Greenbrier.

“Phil Mickelson’s track record as a professional golfer speaks for itself and we are thrilled to have his vision and talent for our latest development in such a beautiful location,” said Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization.

According to Golf.com, Mickelson has designed courses in Arizona (Whisper Rock), China (Mickelson Shanghai International) and Canada (Mickelson National Golf Club). He also recently designed the short-game practice facility at his alma mater Arizona State University.
