Tiger Gives PGA Tour Media Official a Hard Time

As Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf looms closer, the 14-time major champion did his media blitz on Tuesday at the Hero World Challenge. Woods spoke alongside Dustin Johnson and then Hero MotoCorp CEO Pawan Munjal on Golf Channel’s Morning Drive before heading into the press center for a formal pre-tournament/host press conference.

While the wide-ranging 28-minute question and answer segment(available to watch below) touched on a variety of subjects ranging from his health and golf game to his recovery from a rehab stint stemming from his Memorial Day arrest, the very beginning of the press conference showed the kind of headspace Woods currently finds himself in.

Cork Gaines of BusinessInsider.com summed up the back-and-forth between Woods and PGA Tour media official John Bush thusly

The PGA Tour’s Hero World Challenge is this week in the Bahamas and all eyes are on Tiger Woods who is set to play in his first tournament in nearly ten months.

While we have seen snippets of Woods practicing his swing and have heard stories about how well he is playing, his first official action was to meet with the media on Tuesday morning. That media session got off to a rather bizarre start.

Before PGA Tour media official John Bush had a chance to introduce Woods as the tournament host or Pawan Munjal, the CEO of Hero, Woods ribbed Bush for wearing a jacket in the Bahamas in a back-and-forth that sounded a lot like a married couple going to social function.

Here is Woods’ complete press conference.

And here are Woods’ appearances on Morning Drive.
