There are quite a few drawbacks to playing golf in the winter, but one of the few advantages when it’s really cold outside is that you have a better chance of not losing a ball in a water hazard, assuming that body of water is frozen.

Enter 22-year-old Maxime Chometowski, a French greenskeeper. With his ball sitting on the precipice of a frozen pond, Chometowski hit one of the shots of the year in the first week of January.

Of course, there’s no telling what he would have done had his ball gotten a little further out onto the water, because we all know what can happen when you tempt fate playing winter golf.
