Adam Scott, Steve Williams Part Ways After 3 Years

Adam Scott and Steve Williams are through, the duo announced on Wednesday.

The mutual split comes after Williams announced that he’d like to work a limited schedule in order to spend more time with his family in New Zealand.

“Our priorities and stages of life are different now,” Scott said in a statement. “We decided that this is the best time to end our partnership.”

Scott continued, “Steve has been an integral part of my team in a period where I have fulfilled some of my lifetime golfing goals. His dedication and professionalism have been without question, and his friendship is highly valued.”

In their three years together, they won four times, including the 2013 Masters. It was the first time an Australian won the tournament.

“After discussing this in detail with Adam it became evident that my plan was not going to fit with Adam’s requirements and so we decided to end our partnership,” Williams said in a statement. “Having caddied for the first Australian to win the Masters is a career highlight and a memory I will cherish forever. If the right opportunity arose I would consider caddying on a part-time basis in the future.”

Scott is next scheduled to play in the Japan Open in October with more events in Asia and Australia to follow. While no official announcement has been handed down, it’s likely Scott will hire a caddie for these events before deciding on a full-time replacement in the future.
