Fantasy Insider: 2016 Valspar Championship Picks

The PGA Tour continues its romp around Florida, teeing it up this week in Tampa, the site of what Jordan Spieth calls one of the biggest victories of his career. Coming off of a World Golf Championship event, there’s plenty of big name guys who have stuck around the Sunshine State and will tee it up this week.

Among the notables are the defending champ and world No. 1, Spieth, No. 7-ranked Henrik Stenson, 10th-ranked Patrick Reed and some international flavor with Danny Willett, Branden Grace and Louis Oosthuizen rounding out the players in the top-20 in the world in the field.

The Copperhead Course at Innisbrook has undergone a $4.5 million restoration since last year’s event, but is expected to play similarly to years past. As opposed to the typical Florida layouts that feature very little elevation change and an abundance of water, Innisbrook harkens feelings of North and South Carolina with tree-lined fairways and some topographical undulations.

What The Experts Are Saying

Jeff Sherman of GolfOdds.com and the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook has set the defending champ as the overwhelming favorite at 11/2. Henrik Stenson is 15/1, Danny Willett is 20/1 and the threesome of Patrick Reed, Louis Oosthuizen and Matt Kuchar are all 25/1.

Rob Bolton at PGATour.com set his Power Rankings as follows: 1. Spieth, 2. Stenson, 3. Ryan Moore, 4. Kevin Na, 5. Jason Dufner, 6. Reed, 7. Harris English, 8. Willett, 9. Graeme McDowell, 10. Justin Thomas, 11. K.J. Choi, 12. Charles Howell III, 13. Webb Simpson, 14. Sean O’Hair, 15. Sung Kang.

Lastly, Steve Bamford at Golf Betting System is backing Kuchar, McDowell, Choi and Jason Kokrak.
