55 Years Ago Jack Nicklaus Turned Pro With This Letter

Fifty-five years ago today, Jack Nicklaus altered the landscape of professional golf forever by sending a simple letter to the United States Golf Association. In it, Nicklaus laid out his reasoning for foregoing his amateur status, while also laying out some of the sacrifices he knew he’d be making.

Here’s the tweet that Nicklaus’ personal Twitter account sent out last year on this day.
