Volcano Erupts Near Latinoamerica Tour Course

Here’s something you don’t see every day: a major professional golf Tour is playing an event in the shadow of an active volcano. What’s more, the active volcano erupted on Thursday morning before play got under way, providing an amazing backdrop for PGA Tour Latinoamerica players at the Guatemala Stella Artois Open.

PGA Tour Latinoamerica player Paul Apyan passed along the above video and some snaps of the appropriately named Volcán de Fuego (“Volcano of Fire” or Fuego Volcano) blasting on Thursday to Stephanie Wei of WeiUnderPar.com

While the sight is an unusual one for golfers and golf fans alike, Feugo Volcano routinely erupts although it rarely causes damage or any kind of fuss for locals.

Even with the active volcano spewing ash and debris in the distance, the pros still had to get their work in.
