Horschel Throws Club, Clears Air with Apology

We all can agree golf can be frustrating. But when you’re on the PGA Tour, showing it can land you in some hot water. On Friday during the second round of the Players Championship, Billy Horschel was fighting to make the cut when he hit his tee shot on the par-3 13th into the water. After missing the green with his third, the Florida Native chipped in with a 5-wood for bogey and launched his club in frustration at his bag with his caddie clearly in the vicinity while walking away. Bottom line, it wasn’t a good look.

Horschel heard about it on social media and decided to do something to “clear the air” by posting this video explaining his side of the story.

“…I holed it and I was just sort of chuckling to myself. Laughing like, ‘You gotta be kidding me. Golf gods taketh and they giveth at the same time.’ I tossed my club at my bag. I didn’t think I tossed it that hard,” he explained. “Obviously, yeah, it looked bad.”

“You guys give me all the flack you want, that’s fine, I take it all the time. No big deal.”
