Koepka Wins Third Major Championship

Brooks Koepka joined the likes of Billy Casper, Nick Price, Vijay Singh, Hale Irwin, Jimmy Demaret and Jordan Spieth as three-time major championship winners by taking down the PGA Championship on Sunday by two strokes over Tiger Woods.

Koepka, who won back-to-back U.S. Opens earlier this year, won the 100th PGA Championship on Sunday thanks to a final round 4-under par 66. Koepka became just the fifth American three-time major champion under age 29 since World War II joining Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson, Woods and Spieth.

The summer he has had coming off of a serious wrist injury is nothing short of spectacular.

“When I look at what I’ve done in the past two months, it’s incredible,” he said. “Looking where I was, sitting on my couch watching the Masters, and to think I would do this, I would have laughed at you and told you there was no way, no chance, and to do it is really incredible.

“My doctors, physios, trainers, everybody did an unbelievable job even to get back out on the golf course, and to do what I’ve done is very impressive. I can’t even believe it.”

Woods put some pressure on Kopeka, but was unable to keep the pedal down after a bogey on the par-4 14th hole. Adam Scott, who ultimately finished in solo third place, his best major finish since the 2013 season in which he won the Masters and finished tied for third at the Open Championship, was tied with Koepka until the eventual champion made back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 to close the door.
