Stroud Hits Sister With Drive, Kisner’s Clutch Pitch

Not only was the Zurich Classic a team event, it also was apparently a family affair. On Saturday during the third round at TPC Louisiana, the team of Brian Stuard and Chris Stroud respectably ham and egged it during the alternate shot format en route to a one-under 71, putting them in contention on Sunday.

However, they can thank Chris Stroud’s sister Tammy for bailing them out after her brother hit a wayward drive which hit her, of all people, right in the back, preventing the ball from going even further into the pine straw. We guess you can say she took one for the team! Stuard made the most of the opportunity by sticking one to seven-feet and Stroud made the putt for the unlikely birdie.

But the shot of the day on a weather-delayed Sunday in New Orleans came from Kevin Kisner who rattled home this clutch 94-foot eagle pitch basically in the dark. It gave himself and partner Scott Brown the lead by one on the 72nd hole over the team of Cameron Smith and Jonas Blixt who converted a birdie of their own to force a Monday playoff.

On the fourth playoff hole, Smith stuffed his approach on the par-5 18th to two-feet and knocked in the birdie for the team victory. It was his first professional win and Blixt’s third.

Here’s a look at the final results:
