DeChambeau “Ripped Part Of (His) Hand Off” Then Won

Winning on the PGA Tour one time is difficult enough. Winning five times, including four times in your last 12 events, is even more impressive. Doing so after “ripp(ing) off” part of your hand the night before? Well, that’s another level.

However, that’s exactly what happened to Bryson DeChambeau on the Saturday night before the final round of the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas. Attending an NHL game between the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes, DeChambeau was tasked with “ringing the siren” before the start of the third period.

Clearly amped up about firing up the Vegas crowd, DeChambeau held nothing back, but at the end of the clip, you can see him look down at his right hand. So, what happened?

“I ripped part of my hand off, which is nice,” DeChambeau told reporters, according to GolfChannel.com’s Ryan Lavner. “I was freaking out. I’m like, Wow, I’m really in some doo-doo; not in a good place.

“I gave that thing a whirl and got the crowd pumped up for the third (period) and they went on to win so, more power to them, and more power to me, I guess.”

DeChambeau described the injury as a blister that was a little bigger than a dime. He attempted to apply Nu-Skin and some moisturizer before heading to the player performance center onsite at TPC Summerlin where the trainers were able to treat his wound.

He said he was mostly able to swing without discomfort during the final round, only aggravating the injury when he would get too steep with his swing or make a fist, as he did following the signature shot of the tournament.
