Pro Holes Out To Tie On 72nd Hole, Wins In Playoff

One of the best shot of the year came during a tournament you probably didn’t even know that was going on. The Web.com Tour was in South America for the Club Colombia Championship when Ethan Tracy came to the 72nd hole needing an eagle to tie. Fortunately for him, the 18th hole at Country Club de Bogota is a par-5 and he was playing it great all week. After laying up with a seven-iron, Tracy had 101 yards to the hole. Knowing what was at stake, he took dead aim and jarred it for an eagle three.

“I was trying to make it,” said Tracy, after the round. “I knew 13 was the number. I was going to get it all the way back to that pin and if it went over so be it. I had to give it a chance.”

Two sudden-death playoff holes later, the 27-year-old Columbus, Ohio native drained a 20-footer for birdie to beat Mexico’s Roberto Diaz to capture his first Web.com Tour title in just his fourth career start.

“I was just grateful to be in the playoff,” said Tracy, who holed out from the fairway on the 72nd hole to finish at 13-under-par. “Somehow I made a great shot, and I was fortunate that it went in. I capitalized on a good shot in the playoff with a great putt. Overall, the 18th was pretty good to me.”

The win propelled Tracy to no. 1 on the money list after the first three events of the year. He was previously unranked.
