Euro Tour Pro Hits Bomb, Drives 407-Yard Green

If you watched the Ryder Cup, you know Thomas Pieters is a stud. Fresh off of his rookie performance where he went 4-1, the 24 year-old Belgian consistently wowed the crowd with his massive tee shots, while taking a page out of Patrick Reed’s playbook by shushing the U.S. fans.

The “new” Belgian Bomber was at it again Thursday during the European Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship where he was playing Carnoustie Golf Links in Scotland when he drove the green on the 407-yard par-4 seventh hole. Granted it had 100 yards of roll, but hey, that’s links golf!

In other Pieters news, the question of whether he will eventually play on the PGA Tour is still up in the air.

According to an ESPN report, good friend and fellow Belgian, Nicolas Colsaerts, doesn’t believe he’ll make the move to the States.  “We have talked about it a little bit,” said the golfer formally known as the Belgian Bomber – you know – until Pieters showed up. “I don’t think he would want to be surrounded by Americans 365 days a year.”

“People think that because he went to the U.S. [for college at the University of Illinois] that he only wants to play the PGA Tour, but he has shown at the Ryder Cup, with his shushing of the crowd [last Saturday] and the way he plays, that he doesn’t like them that much,” Colsaerts said.

The raucous crowds at Hazeltine probably didn’t help.
