Gary Player Calls Out Jack Nicklaus

The Masters just got a little more interesting thanks to a golfing legend. Since 2012, the original Big Three consisting of the late Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Gary Player have had the honor of hitting the ceremonial first tee shots officially kicking off the year’s first major. While this year’s edition promises to be an emotional event since the passing of Palmer, Player is already focusing on two things – exercise and outdriving Jack Nicklaus.

The 81 year-old South African took to Twitter on Thursday to proactively lighten the mood by posting this amazing tweet essentially challenging Nicklaus to a “long drive contest” of sorts on Thursday morning, presumably while he was in between sets of sit ups.

First off, “chuffed” means “very pleased” in British slang. Secondly, the detail of the photo he chose was too perfect. There’s Player in all of his glory while Nicklaus seems to be quite impressed. Of course, this legendary needling is all in good fun.
