Watch: Jason Day Makes an Ace at the BMW

Golf is a funny game. One minute you’re searching for answers and firing your longtime caddie, the next, you’re on top of the world and the leaderboard. On Friday, Jason Day ignited himself and the crowd during the second round of the BMW Championship when he made two eagles in four holes, one of which was good for an ace!

After opening with a 7-under par 64, Day came out firing again at Conway Farms Golf Club, a course on which he’s thrived winning back in 2015, going out in 2-under 33. Then came the fireworks.

At the par-5 14th, the Aussie chipped in for eagle from just off the green. But it was his tee shot on the par-3 17th that might have been his shot of the year. From 188 yards, Day’s ball hit short of the green, took a fortunate hop and tracked all the way into the hole.

His accomplishment earned him a brand new BMW, which he is donating to the Evans Scholars Foundation.

Day posted a 6-under par 65 and finds himself in a tie for second at 13-under heading into the weekend. Not a bad week to be his new caddie on the bag.

Marc Leishman is the 36-hole leader at 16-under, while Rickie Fowler and Day are three back. Phil Mickelson, who needs a good week to keep his season alive, is T12 alongside Jordan Spieth.

Here’s a look at Friday’s highlights:
