Rose Wins Indonesian Masters in Dominant Fashion

At 37 years of age, Justin Rose looks to be playing the best golf of his life. The 2013 U.S. Open winner has finished in the top-10 in his last 10 worldwide starts dating back to August’s PGA Championship. The tail end of that stretch saw Rose win three of his last six events.

Rose bookended his victory in Indonesia with rounds of 62, leading to a personal-best eight-shot victory over Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai.

Justin Rose, the top-ranked played competing at the Asian Tour’s Indonesian Masters, made the best of trying situations at Royale Jakarta Golf Club, running away with the title on Sunday.

Weather delays throughout the week forced Rose to play the last 10 holes of his third round Sunday morning, then get back out 30 minutes later to finish the closing 18. Yet the 37-year-old Englishman responded with final-round 10-under 62 to finish at 29-under 259, eight strokes ahead of 18-year-old Phachara Khongwatmai of Thailand, the biggest margin of victory in Rose’s professional career.

Rose went wire-to-wire for the victory after also shooting an opening-round 62. In many ways, though, his Sunday number was more impressive. Rose made the turn in 29 after a six hole stretch in which he made five birdies and an eagle. He was 10 under through 13 holes, looking like 59 was within reach, but then dropped a shot on the 16th before closing with one last birdie on the home hole.
