JT Whiffs Ball Against a Rock Left-Handed

Justin Thomas has had a pretty stellar 2017 season. The 24-year-old Louisville, Kentucky native has won five times this year, including his first major championship victory at the PGA Championship. That not many people have had a better year than Thomas proves that the golf gods give and they take away.

On Friday at the Hero World Challenge, Thomas was plodding along pretty well and played the first 14 holes in 4-under par. The generous fairways of Albany Golf Club need to be found, however, because just into the sandy waste areas that surround most holes are pot luck.

Thomas’ drive on par-5 15th proved that point as his ball came to rest up against a rock.

Thomas flipped over a long iron and tried to extricate his Titleist with a left-handed lash only to click the rock and pass over the ball completely. The second go of things resulted in better contact, but the whiff did its damage and led to a bogey on the hole.

Thomas would go on to bogey the next two holes as well before a closing birdie at the 18th. He shot a second-round 2-under par 70. A third-round 74 has dropped Thomas back to the pack and he enters Sunday’s final round at 3-under par and 11 shots back of Charley Hoffman.
