Koepka Expands On Latest Beef With Chamblee

The latest feud between Brooks Koepka and Brandel Chamblee is mostly a continuation of their previous disagreements, but Koepka has become more outspoken about the Golf Channel analyst’s opinions in recent days.

Koepka has shared in the past that doubters have spurred him on in the past, and while Koepka doesn’t outwardly address his slights — perceived or otherwise — publicly, he makes passing references that are not tough to decode.

Speaking on Monday to Golf.com at the AT&T Byron Nelson, there was no decoding necessary. As has become the norm with Koepka, when asked directly about his feelings on something, he simply speaks his truth.

Koepka “Clowns” Chamblee Over Tiger Comments

Chamblee opined on a recent podcast that he believed Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy were the only two players in the game who could topple Tiger Woods. With Koepka’s name absent, as well as a handful of other top players, the three-time major champion responded by tweeting a picture of Chamblee with a clown’s nose photoshopped on.

“My coach (Claude Harmon) sent me the tweet, he sent it it me and said, ‘I think you should see it,’ so I saw it and I responded,” Koepka said. “Everybody on my team, everybody around me and close to me knows what’s going to get me fired up or what makes me pay attention a little more,” he said. “You tell me I can’t do something and I can’t wait to prove you wrong.”

Koepka admitted that he didn’t create the Chamblee clown picture himself. Instead, it was one of his friends with whom he is on a group text.

“I’ve got a group text with a bunch of buddies, there’s about 12 of them. I don’t know who sent it, one of ‘em sent it, I thought it was pretty funny,” he said. “I sent them the whatever, the tweet, and that was the first one they sent, and I just went with it, man — a picture’s worth a thousand words.

“(Chamblee has) done it a lot, he’s always got an opinion on something. And I don’t really respond too much. I know he said a bunch of things at Augusta and I never responded, that’s not really my style.

“But there comes a point where you just don’t care, and like I said, a picture’s worth more than a thousand words.”

Koepka is in the field this week at the AT&T Byron Nelson, and he will defend his most recent major championship next week at the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black where he will play alongside the aforementioned Woods and the 2018 Open Champion, Francesco Molinari.
