Na Gifts Caddie Restored ’73 Dodge Challenger

Kevin Na and his caddie, Kenny Harms, have been a team since 2008, and on Sunday at Colonial Country Club, the duo captured their third PGA Tour victory together.

Aside from the spoils that come with winning on Tour, Harms had his eyes on something else from the beginning of the week.

The Charles Schwab Challenge had a 1973 Dodge Challenger restored ahead of the tournament that would be given to the winner, but earlier in the week, Harms began pitching Na on giving the car to him should the pair break through.

After 71 holes, the outcome was all but official and Na and Harms knew what was coming next.

“I don’t know how my caddie convinced me to give him the car, but he’s a good salesman I guess,” Na said. “He sold me into it. But I’m more than happy to give it to him. He deserves it. I mean, looks like a beautiful car, but little did I know how much that car was worth.

“He said, ‘I’ll take my name out of the hole-in-one list,’ because we have a hole-in-one list. Every time I make a hole-in-one, if there is a car, a person gets it. It starts with parents, then goes wife, daughter, and Kenny. Kenny said, ‘Well, I started working with you before your daughter was born, so I’m behind the wife. I’ll take my name out of list if you give me that car.’

“I was like, ‘Whatever, fine.'”

Na said that Harms will still get his normal salary and that the car is just a nice bonus for 11 years of hard work and dedication. He also made it known that that loyalty has been rewarded better than most.

“Oh, yeah, (he’ll still get paid),” he said. “You know what? It wouldn’t surprise me if he’s the highest percentage paid caddie out here. I’m being dead serious. You can ask him. He won’t tell you the number, but he gets a good check, a lot more than the average.”

Na won by four strokes over Tony Finau to capture his third victory on Tour. He added $1.13 million to his career earnings, which now total over $30 million, so Na’s not hurting for gas money.

Plus, he has a nice toy that he can drive around.

“I got a Lamborghini at home,” Na said.
