Perez Returns From Torn Labrum To Win At Mayakoba

Pat Perez has long marched to the beat of his own drum. From his unique style to his long hair and short temper, Perez has never been accused of being one of the robotic cliché machines on the PGA Tour. It was a recent change in that unique disposition that led Perez to win his second tournament on the PGA Tour at the OHL Classic this past week.

Perez overcame a one-shot deficit entering the final round to hold off 54-hole leader Gary Woodland. Perez’s 4-under par 67 was enough to best Woodland by two and hold off final-round charges from Russell Knox and Kevin Streelman.

The win was Perez’s first in nine years and came just three starts after returning from an eight-month injury layoff due to a torn labrum.
