Poulter Masterfully Trolls U.S. Ryder Cup Team

Part of what makes the Ryder Cup so great is that it’s only played every other year. While the appetite is clearly there for the action on a yearly basis, its biennial nature allows for anticipation to reach a fever pitch.

On the other hand, it leaves the losing side two years to stew over what went wrong and why. It also allows the winning side — in this year’s case, Team Europe — two years worth of bragging rights.

Ian Poulter undoubtedly likes that last fact, and he proved as much this weekend.

In the midst of his offseason, Poulter took to social media, as he often does, and took a quick jab at the U.S. team in friendly fashion, captioning a thinking-man pose with “Can anyone spot the mistake in this photo…?”

About an hour later, Poulter posted another photo, this time with the mistake “fixed.”

“It’s ok folks I fixed the mistake. How does it look now?” he wrote.

Poulter’s prank caught the attention of a few other prominent perusers of Instagram, namely Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Brooks Koepka.

Only 21 months until the matches at Whistling Straits.
