Reed Caught A Terrible Break At The HSBC Champions

For Patrick Reed this week in China, when it rains, it pours. The Ryder Cup hero is having a tough go of things this week at the World Golf Championships HSBC Champions in Shanghai. Coming off of a disappointing first-round 78, Reed tried to right the ship on Friday, only to have that ship throw him back into the water. Literally.

Where have we seen something like that before? Oh, right…

Unlike Tiger in 2013, there were no questions about Reed’s drop, and he was able to get up-and-down for bogey en route to a second-round 75. He currently sits in a tie for 73rd place at 9-over par, 22 shots behind 36-hole leader Hideki Matsuyama who has made 19 birdies in his first two rounds.

A strong group of pursuers that includes Rory McIlroy, Bill Haas, Russell Knox, Paul Casey, Rickie Fowler and Daniel Berger will try to chase down the 24-year-old Japanese star over the weekend.

Here are the complete second round highlights.
