Pro Receives Tour Card, Wants To Get “Hammered”

While golf can be a relaxing, enjoyable experience for the entire family, it’s a different story when your career is on the line. On Sunday, the Web.com Tour regular season came to a close at the Portland Open with the top-25 on the money list guaranteed to receive a coveted PGA Tour card.

Roberto Diaz was happy to be one of those 25 and it was clear that he was looking forward to celebrating. The 30-year-old Mexican snagged the last spot when Keith Mitchell missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the 72nd hole.

It’s the first time in his career he’s earned the golden ticket.

“I don’t think there are any words I can say about how I feel. It’s a dream come true, obviously,” Diaz said as reality was setting in. “It was a long afternoon. I can tell you I have no nails left, nothing. I can’t put it into words how it feels.

“I’m just looking forward to getting hammered tonight!”

What a legend! If you recall, Diaz is the man who took Phil Mickelson’s spot in the U.S. Open this year at Erin Hills after he withdrew to attend his daughter’s high school graduation.

Here’s a look at the 25 men who earned their PGA Tour cards from the 2017 Web.com Tour Money List:
